Treehouse Community
Finca Bellavista (FBV) is a sustainable treehouse community situated on 600 acres of land in the mountainous South Pacific coastal region of Costa Rica. FBV is the brainchild of Mateo and Erica Hogan, a married couple from Colorado who fell in love with Costa Rica.
“mum I’m moving to finland” “okay”
So many things about this that any public school teacher could tell you.
- Kids need recess
- Standardized testing accomplishes nothing, especially when they have to take 4-5 a year
- Individualized attention from teachers is necessary
- SpEd and EBD students do better behavior-wise when their integrated into mainstream classrooms.
But is the government listening?
I say this every time this Finland meme comes up and finally someone on the Atlantic agrees with me.
The reason why this works there and not here (or any place with a non homogenous population) is bc colonizers have no interest in educating the “other” or consider them equals that deserve unfettered access to education. This is why private schools exist. Ppl did not want their kids educated alongside people who they viewed beneath them.
That inequality conversation needs to be addressed first before any progress happens.

Origami Cardboard Provides Portable ‘Homes’ For The Homeless
Los Angeles-based designer Tina Hovsepian has designed Cardborigami, a temporary, portable shelter for homeless people. Hovsepian believes that “design fundamentally impacts the daily life of our society” and that there has to be “aggressively creative ideas and new approaches to old problems”. That has led her to create ‘Cardborigami’, a foldable, origami-like structure made of recyclable treated cardboard—capable of housing two adults comfortably, it collapses to a handy size for easy transportation.
Ocean Vs Sea
One of the few places on earth where you can compare the rich blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the road and the calm turquoise-green waters of the Exuma Sound (Caribbean Sea) on the other side, separated by a strip of rock just 30 feet wide.
